Spinning wheel for classrooms & giveaways
Names (0)
Bulk paste (one per line):

How to Use the Random Name Picker

Enter names in the panel on the right β€” one per line, or type them one at a time. The wheel draws immediately. Hit Spin (or press Space) and the wheel accelerates, then decelerates with a smooth easing curve over 3–5 seconds. The segment under the pointer at rest is the winner.

    Classroom Tips

    • Save each class period as a separate list ("Period 1", "Period 2") β€” switch between them from the toolbar.
    • Enable Remove winner after spin to call on every student exactly once per session.
    • Click Fullscreen or press F before projecting β€” the wheel fills the screen for clear classroom visibility.
    • Spin history shows who has been called this session β€” no student gets called twice by accident.

    Giveaway Tips

    • Paste your full entrant list with bulk paste. Up to 500 names supported.
    • The wheel segments are always equal probability β€” no hidden weighting.
    • Screen-record the spin for transparent, shareable proof of fairness.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How does the spinning wheel pick a name?
The wheel divides into equal segments, one per name. It spins with randomized velocity and decelerates smoothly. The segment under the fixed pointer at the moment the wheel stops is the winner. Every name has exactly equal probability.
    Are the names saved anywhere?
Names are saved only in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is sent to any server. Your lists stay private on your device.
Can I save multiple class lists?
Yes β€” you can save up to 10 named lists (e.g., Period 1, Period 2, Homeroom). Switch between lists instantly using the list selector in the toolbar.
How do I use fullscreen mode for my classroom projector?
Click the fullscreen button in the toolbar, or press F. The wheel fills the screen. Press Esc or F again to exit. Works on most browsers and classroom projector setups.
What happens when I remove a winner?
With "Remove winner" toggled on, the picked name is removed from the wheel after each spin. The wheel then resizes to the remaining names. This ensures every name gets picked exactly once.
How many names can the wheel handle?
The wheel accepts up to 500 names. With more than 50 names, text labels are hidden (too small to read) and the name list panel shows the names instead.
